Across the Americas, commercial and industrial businesses are increasingly looking to solar energy to reduce electricity costs, improve energy resilience and advance their sustainability goals. Yet many promising distributed solar projects never reach construction.

The challenge is often not demand, technology or EPC capability. It is capital.

For EPC companies, developing projects under a power purchase agreement (PPA) can create significant working-capital pressure. Even when an offtaker has stable electricity demand and a suitable site, insufficient project equity or an unclear financing structure can prevent the opportunity from becoming a signed and executable EPC contract.

ASG Energy addresses this gap by combining long-term investment capital, project development capabilities and experienced local EPC execution.

A Fund-Owned Renewable Energy Development Model

ASG Energy invests in, develops, owns and operates distributed solar plants for commercial and industrial offtakers in Mexico, Belize and other selected markets across the Americas.

Rather than focusing on one-time equipment sales, our model is built around long-term energy assets. Each qualified project is structured through a dedicated project company, supported by investment capital and backed by a 10- to 15-year PPA or energy-service agreement.

This creates a clear path from project opportunity to operating asset:

  1. A qualified C&I solar opportunity is identified.
  2. The project is screened for commercial, technical and investment viability.
  3. Capital is deployed through the project company.
  4. A local EPC partner designs and constructs the solar plant.
  5. The completed plant generates recurring, contracted cash flow.
  6. The asset may later support portfolio financing, refinancing or an exit.

The result is a model designed to create long-term value for investors, EPC partners and energy users alike.

Helping EPC Partners Convert More Opportunities

EPC companies often encounter attractive PPA opportunities that cannot proceed because the customer does not want to purchase the system directly or because the project requires substantial upfront capital.

By funding the investment side of qualified projects, ASG Energy enables EPC partners to concentrate on what they do best: originating opportunities, delivering high-quality solar systems and supporting long-term local operations.

For EPC partners, this can provide several practical benefits:

  • A clearer funding path for qualified projects
  • Reduced project-equity and working-capital pressure
  • Faster recovery of EPC payments
  • More competitive PPA proposals
  • Higher conversion of project opportunities into construction orders
  • A repeatable pipeline of long-term projects

Our shared objective is straightforward: turn more high-quality PPA opportunities into financeable solar assets and executable EPC contracts.

A Clear Division of Responsibilities

Successful long-term solar partnerships require clearly defined roles.

The EPC partner leads local origination and execution. This generally includes identifying suitable C&I projects, preparing technical and due-diligence materials, delivering EPC works and providing ongoing support for operations, maintenance and customer service.

ASG Energy acts as the investor, developer and long-term asset owner. We evaluate project risks and returns, approve investments, deploy capital, establish the project company and manage the resulting portfolio of solar assets and energy contracts.

This division of responsibilities aligns capital with local market expertise. It also allows both parties to build a sustainable project pipeline instead of pursuing isolated transactions.

Disciplined Project Evaluation

Long-term PPAs can create stable and predictable cash flow, but only when the underlying projects are carefully selected and structured.

Our investment review focuses on six essential areas:

1. Electricity Demand and Payment Capacity

We review historical electricity bills—normally covering at least 12 months—to understand consumption patterns, demand stability and the offtaker’s ability to meet long-term payment obligations.

2. Site Rights

The project must have clear, durable rights to use the relevant roof, land or facility for the full operating term. The relationship between the offtaker and the property owner is therefore an important part of the review.

3. Country and Market Risk

Each opportunity is assessed in the context of local economic conditions, electricity-market rules, foreign-exchange exposure, energy policy and the broader regulatory environment.

4. EPC Capability

EPC partners are evaluated on their technical performance, construction quality, financial strength, delivery record and ability to provide reliable local service.

5. Long-Term Operations

A solar plant must continue performing well after construction. The operating model therefore includes clearly defined responsibilities for O&M, customer support, billing coordination and payment collection.

6. Equipment and System Quality

Projects are expected to use approved, bankable core equipment that supports long-term performance, operational reliability and asset value.

From Initial Screening to Long-Term Operation

Our project-development process is structured to screen opportunities efficiently before committing significant diligence resources. The process begins with an initial assessment of electricity demand, site conditions, proposed PPA terms and expected investment returns. Qualified projects then move into commercial validation, credit review, technical analysis and financial modeling.

Once approved, the parties establish the project company, finalize the PPA and agree on EPC, O&M, payment and operating responsibilities. The EPC partner then proceeds with construction, grid connection and acceptance, after which the project enters long-term operation.

For an efficient initial review, EPC partners should provide:

  • A concise project overview
  • At least 12 months of electricity bills
  • A summary of site ownership and usage rights
  • A preliminary technical solution
  • Key proposed PPA or energy-service terms
  • Basic information about the offtaker and its payment profile

These materials allow both parties to determine quickly whether an opportunity is suitable for further investment analysis.

Start with One Verifiable Project

Strong partnerships are built through execution. We invite EPC companies with qualified C&I solar opportunities in Mexico, Belize and other selected markets across the Americas to begin with one verifiable project. Together, we can complete an initial screening, build the investment model and select a pilot project for due diligence, contracting and construction.

By combining investment capital, disciplined asset management and strong local EPC delivery, we can transform more solar PPA opportunities into sustainable energy assets—while creating a reliable, long-term project pipeline for every partner involved.
